NORTHRIDGE (CNS) — CSUN has released its men's basketball schedule for the 2018-19 season, which only consists of games against Division I opponents.

The Matadors recorded two victories over non-Division opponents during the 2017-18 season when they were 6-24.

This will be the first season since 2009-10 when CSUN will face only Division I opponents. The Matadors will face the most Division I opponents in their history this season. CSUN has played at the Division I level since the 1990-91 season.

The Matadors will open their season Nov. 6 by playing host to New Mexico at The Matadome in Mark Gottfried's debut as CSUN coach.

Other home nonconference games will be against Portland (Nov. 17), Tennessee State (Nov. 20), Sacramento State (Dec. 1), Pacific (Dec. 16), Morgan State (Dec. 29) and Yale (Jan. 5).

CSUN will visit Las Vegas for the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic Dec. 22 against SIU-Edwardsville and either Northern Colorado or Rider Dec. 23.

The Matadors tournament participation also consists of games at San Diego Dec. 9 and New Mexico State Dec. 16.

CSUN's other nonconference road games will be against Pepperdine (Nov. 10), Loyola Marymount (Nov. 13), Washington State (Dec. 27) and San Diego State (Jan. 1).

The Matadors will open Big West Conference play Jan. 9 at UC Riverside.

New Mexico State and San Diego State both played in the 2018 NCAA tournament.
