VAN NUYS (CNS) — A man fatally shot outside a Van Nuys strip club has been publicly identified.

Jonathan McLinn, 30, was a Sherman Oaks resident, coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz said.

The shooting occurred about 2:45 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, near the Red Tie Gentlemen’s Club at 15832 Stagg St., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to police and reports from the scene, the victim argued with a man who was accompanied by two other men who were in a dark car. During the argument, the suspect shot the victim and then got into the car, which sped off.

Another fatal shooting occurred outside the club nearly a year ago. On Feb. 25, 2019, at about 2:10 a.m., Jorge Soto, 34, of Northridge was fatally shot during a dispute with several suspects who fled in a vehicle.

Anyone with information for police is urged to call the LAPD West Valley Division at (818) 374-7611, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.

Friday’s strip club shooting was the second shooting in Van Nuys in three days. Someone fatally shot a 35-year-old transient in Lake Balboa/Anthony C. Beilenson Park in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area about 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 28. He was identified as Bryan Woodson. Witnesses said Woodson and his killer argued before the shooting.

Anyone with information about that case is urged to call Detective Campagna at LAPD Valley Bureau Homicide at (818) 374-9550 or Crime Stoppers.
