With every new moment, new day, new week and of course New Year, we have a chance at a restart. December is now behind us, every sunrise and every holiday can be used as a restart opportunity to get restarted on our personal health with what I refer to as the “ 3 M’s, ” Motivation, Movement and Mindset. We must be Motivated to move and to take care of ourselves.

Movement is exercise! Think of all the ways you can move more in 2014. Mindset; stay in a healthy mindset to make sure that our decisions serve our health With the New Year , take an inventory of the last year, and ask yourselves the following questions: Since last New Year, did I improve my own healthy lifestyle? (Food, fitness, yoga, stretching, hydration, mind, body, spirit?) If not, why? Am I being the best leading family example I can be? Prevention; Are there diseases of lifestyle in my family that I would like to take some steps to not propagate? Remember, Your Body Is Your Temple. We want to remain healthy or get healthier as we age, not the opposite! We only get one body and know that you are your best advocate. if you aren't for yourself than who will be? if you don't take action now, then when will you take action? : Here are 5 New Year’s Tips that will help you today: Journaling is the best way to keep track of what’s going into your body.

Write down what you eat so you will know just how many cookies you just ate. Move! Keep moving and if it’s cold outside use the great indoors. Drink more water! Step away from the soda and festive beverages. Sleep well and make sure that you allow yourself time to relax. Go for a walk with the family… or walk the dog….do something active with your family rather than just watching movies
