Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killings of Two Men in Panorama City PDF Print E-mail

VAN NUYS (CNS) — A man convicted of murdering two men who were believed to be his partners in crime was sentenced July 15 to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Edwin Lugo, 21, was also sentenced to an additional 50 years to life behind bars, according to Deputy District Attorney Scott Marcus.

Lugo was convicted June 13 of two counts of first-degree murder for the June 2, 2012, shooting deaths of Mario Martinez, 35, and Jaime Polino, 26, in Panorama City.

Jurors also found true a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, along with an allegation of discharging a firearm causing death.

Lugo and the victims were suspected of being involved together in crimes including burglaries and narcotics, according to court testimony.

Martinez and Polino were found dead inside Martinez’s Brimfield Avenue apartment. Both victims had been shot once in the head.
