MISSION HILLS (CNS) - A suspect was in custody today on suspicion of fatally stabbing a fellow janitor at a medical building in Mission Hills where they both worked, police said.

Jesus Bautista Maldonado, 43, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Friday March 23, at the San Ysidro border crossing, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Florentino Reyes- Lucas, 41, was found dead in the basement of Facey Medical Center, 11211 N. Sepulveda Blvd., about 6:35 a.m. Friday by a security guard.

Maldonado and Reyes were working together as janitors at the location when the stabbing occurred, police said.

"Detectives learned that the suspect ... confronted the victim and stabbed him, causing his death," police said in a statement. The fight may have been over a woman, KCAL9 reported.
