A man was struck and killed by a Metrolink train on Monday, June 25 shortly after 8:00 a.m. The incident occurred on North Brand Boulevard near Truman Street in the city of San Fernando.

Police reported the train was traveling at 75 mph when it hit the man, said to be a pedestrian.

San Fernando police, the L.A County sheriff's Deputies and the coroner all responded. The man's identity is not known nor whether he deliberately stepped in front of the train in a suicide or whether it was an accident.

The train was traveling from downtown Los Angeles and the incident occured just south of the Sylmar Metrolink station. Police said the remains will be hopefully identified by the Coroner's office and police will review video that was taken from the train that may provide more details about what occurred.
