JCPenney Closing Excuse me for saying this, but to quote my Mother, "Just who in the hell does JCPenney think they are?". JCPenney, the company, many years ago decided to take our pretty much upscale store and reduced it to basically substandard items that can be found at Kmart, Walmart, Target, and Sears. All of the upscale merchandise went away, they have no appliance Department, the basics for Athletics and Youth Groups was taken away, and our City was left to deal with their leavings. Then 'the company' has the audacity to close the store? I'll tell you what, they can close my charge account as well, I'm sure there is another Franchise out there, Old Navy maybe, who would be happy to have my business dollars. Farewell JCPenney, Farewell M. Michele Brown San Fernando, Ca Dear Editor, How does a city of population 23,645 manage to co-exist next to the San Fernando Valley and half of L.A.'s 3,800,000, and Burbank with 100,000 and Glendale with 200,000? Furthermore, how can you expect good examples from your elected officials at $500 per month? Los Angeles council members make close to $200,000 a year. Maybe San Fernando should merge into L.A., or combine with Sylmar into a larger small city. You might check out Psalm 146:3, which admonishes, "Put not your trust in princes." P.
