VAN NUYS (CNS) - Singer Bobby Brown pleaded no contest Tuesday, Feb. 26, to charges stemming from his arrest last October for driving under the influence in Tarzana.

Brown -- the former husband of the late pop icon Whitney Houston -- was ordered to surrender March 20 to begin serving a 55-day jail term, according to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

Brown also was sentenced to four years probation, ordered to undergo an 18-month alcohol program, to install an ignition interlock device and to attend three AA classes a week.

Brown pleaded no contest, through his attorney, to one count each of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license, according to the City Attorney's Office.

The charges stemmed from Brown's arrest around 1 a.m. Oct. 25, in which an officer reported observing Brown's Acura sedan being driven erratically in the area of Ventura Boulevard and Corbin Avenue. He was released from jail about 4 a.m. that day.

Brown previously pleaded no contest last April 25 to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge stemming from his March 26, 2012, arrest at Victory Boulevard and Wilbur Avenue in the San Fernando Valley.
