San Fernando's Mario Rodriguez Named To Boys' All-City First Team

El Camino Real forward and midfielder Dylann O'Connor was an easy choice as the Los Angeles City Section player of the year in girls' soccer, large division.

O'Connor, a senior, scored 23 goals and added nine assists in helping the Conquistadors to a 23-3-2 overall mark, and an 11th City championship, tying them with Chatsworth for the most girls' soccer titles in City history.

Teammates Zoe Fishman, Carley McBeath and Jackie Altschuld joined O'Connor on the All-City first team. Other first team Valley selections included Cindy Godina of Taft, Genesis Cruz of Arleta, Irma Arias of Sylmar, Alexis Venegas of Birmingham, Naez Sedaghat of Cleveland, Nicole Thompson of Granada Hills, and Nathalie Feil of Verdugo Hills.

Mario Rodriguez is among the selections on the All-City boys' first team, large division. Rodriguez, a senior midfielder and defenseman, had 11 goals and seven assists for the 21-4-4 Tigers, who reached the City final against eventual champion Los Angeles Fremont.

Other Valley players on the first team included Dante Nino of Birmingham, Erickson Penate and Osvaldo Martinez of El Camino Real, and Bryan Barreras of Arleta.
