The prep football playoffs move into their semifinal rounds starting Friday, Nov. 23. And a few Valley area teams are still chasing a championship.

One of them is San Fernando. The Tigers (10-2), seeded fifth in the City Section Division II bracket, will face South Gate South East (11- 1), the top seed, on the Jaguars' home field. Also in the City Division II semifinals is Canoga Park (8-4), seeded sixth, which hosts Jefferson (9-3), the seventh seed.

Both kickoffs are scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Division II championship game will be played on Saturday, December 1, at 3 p.m. in East Los Angeles College's Wiengart Stadium.

In the Southern Section, Chaminade (11-1) hopes to advance to next week's Western Division title game. To do so, the Eagles will have to beat Mission League rival Los Angeles Cathedral (10-2) for the second time in three weeks. The teams last met on Nov. 2, with Chaminade winning 62-26. Defending Division IV state bowl champion Sierra Canyon (11-1), seeded third in the Mid-Valley Division, has a semifinal date with Monrovia (10-2), seeded second, at Granada Hills High.

Both games kick off at 7:30 p.m. The Western and Mid-Valley championship games will be played next Friday, Nov. 30, at venues to be decided.
