Championship Week for High School Football

The City and Southern sections will crown their 11-man football champions this weekend. And the San Fernando Valley is guaranteed at least one titleholder in each of them.

The City finals has the most area participants.

On Friday, Nov. 29, Birmingham Charter High (7-4), the fourth seed, battles Banning High of Wilmington (6-4), the third seed, for the Open Division title at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, will be busy for area fans. The Division II final features Canoga Park High (11-2), the second seed, against top seed Franklin High of Los Angeles (11-2) at 2:30 p.m. That game will be followed at 6 p.m. by the Division I final between El Camino Real Charter High (8-4) the fourth seed, against Reseda High, (9-3), the second seed.

All games will be played at El Camino College in Torrance.

The Southern Section final in Division II is another all-Valley affair. Top seed Sierra Canyon High (12-1) visits unseeded Chaminade High (7-5) on Friday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
